The incident occurred in Rockland County at 9:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 14, at the intersection of New Hempstead Road and Summit Park Road in Ramapo.
According to Sgt. Shawn Bakker of the Ramapo Police, responding officers found a 2000 Ford Taurus and a 2007 Honda Accord had crashed.
Bakker said that a 69-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman, both residents of Spring Valley, occupied the Ford.
Both were transported to Nyack Hospital by Spring Hill Ambulance. The woman was later pronounced dead at the hospital due to injuries sustained in the crash, Bakker said.
He added that the Honda was occupied by a 19-year-old man from New City. The man was treated at the scene and released.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that the Honda was traveling westbound on New Hempstead Road, and the Ford was traveling eastbound, attempting to make the left turn onto Summit Park Road when they crashed, Bakker said.
The name of the victim has not been released pending notification.
The crash is currently under investigation by the Town of Ramapo Police Crash Investigation Unit.
